Crime Alerts/Timely WarningsA Crime Alert/Timely Warning is used to provide information to the Bradley University community of recent criminal activities in the surrounding area of Bradley University. It is a means to heighten safety awareness and provide notice to students, faculty and staff about crimes that represent a serious threat to the campus. The BUPD will make the decision to issue a warning based on the nature of the crime, continuing danger to the campus, and risk of compromising law enforcement efforts. Depending on circumstances and urgency, information also may be disseminated through the foreWarn emergency notification system. For your own safety and the security of everyone in the Bradley University community, you are urged to familiarize yourself with the information contained in these notices. It is not unusual for information contained in these alerts pertaining to specific crimes or incidents to also apply to other situations, risks or potential offenses. Awareness and alertness are your two best tools to avoid becoming a crime victim! November 17, 2009All Other Service Activities - BOTH ESCAPEES HAVE BEEN APPREHENDED. The Peoria County Sheriff's Office is reporting that two individuals escaped Tuesday morning, November 17, 2009, at around 6:30am, possibly through the roof, from the Peoria County Jail at 301 N. Maxwell Road. On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, it was confirmed that both of the escapees have been apprehended. November 13, 2009Armed Robbery - On Friday, November 13, 2009, at 12:02am, a student walking alone in the 600 blk of Institute Pl. was approached by a male suspect who displayed a gun and demanded money. The student complied and continued walking to a residence on Barker Ave. Once at the residence, the student called police. Police located the suspect, and he was arrested. The gun was found to be a BB gun. November 10, 2009Armed Robbery - On Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at approximately 12:15am, two suspects committed an armed robbery in the 5100 blk of American Prairie Dr. on Peoria's north side. The suspects fled the scene. The vehicle and suspects were later located and led police in a vehicle pursuit that ended on Bradley University's campus at the intersection of University St. and St. James St. One of the suspects was apprehended at this time. The other suspect, described as a black male, approximately 5'11" tall and weighing approximately 200 lbs., remains at-large. This suspect is not believed to be on Bradley University's campus. However, please use caution and be alert for suspicious activity. Report any concerns to the Bradley University Police Department at 677-2000. October 31, 2009Residential Burglary - On Saturday, October 31, 2009, students living in the 700 blk of Institute Pl. reported that sometime between Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:30pm and Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 4:00am, unknown individuals entered their residence and removed some items. There are no suspects at this time. October 23, 2009Burglary - On Friday, October 23, 2009, a Bradley University employee reported that sometime between Thursday, October 8, 2009, and Friday, October 23, 2009, an unknown person entered a locked room in a dormitory located in the 900 blk of Elmwood Ave. and removed a computer. There are no suspects at this time. |
