Robertson Memorial Field House memories
The raised floor. The unique seating that made fans a part of the action. The deafening noise magnified by the rounded roof. Robertson Memorial Field House provided such a home-court advantage, the men’s basketball team amassed 401 wins against 100 losses in 33 years. The noise that created much of the intimidating atmosphere was once described as comparable to “10,000 natives ready to riot” by former DePaul coach Ray Meyer.
Tell us your memories of the fabled aircraft hangar that was home to the men’s basketball team from 1949 to 1982. Did you see the Braves play an Oscar Robertson-led Cincinnati team? Maybe you were at the first game in December of 1949 or saw one of the many great NIT Championship teams.
Share your memories, and we may contact you for a story in an upcoming issue of Bradley Hilltopics.
